Jewellery Care
Pearl
-
Pearls are very soft and easily scratched or abraded, but with reasonable care, pearl jewellery can be a lasting treasure
-
After wearing them, it’s best to wipe them with a very soft, clean cloth.
-
Pearls should be stored separately away from your other jewellery, as the metals or sharp edges from other gemstones may scratch their surface. Wrap the pearls in linen, soft cloth, or place in a soft pouch.
-
Intense heat and intense light can cause dehydration to the pearls and create cracks.
-
Keep your pearls away from any chemicals and all acids. The list includes hair spray, perfume, cosmetics, and even perspiration. Put your pearl jewellery on after spraying perfume, hairspray and after makeup.
-
Pearls might be impregnated, keep them away from recently dyed material or surface.
-
Take off your pearls before exercising to keep them away from perspiration. Also take them off before showers, and swimming.
Precious Metals
- Solid 18K Gold - it's best to keep each piece separately, avoid contact with sharp objects
- Gold-filled, gold plated & Sterling Silver - Wipe them with a soft, clean cloth to polish off any tarnish
Gemstones
-
Diamonds and Cubic Zirconia are hard and durable (won't get scratched easily), but they can be chipped, avoid crashing them with other gemstones.
-
Clean the jewellery by wiping it with a soft, clean cloth (lint-free), or clean it with warm water, mild soap and a soft toothbrush to restore their brilliance.
